Spotlights
The Austin School for the Performing and Visual Arts is an environment which promotes academic success,
exposes students to the variety of artistic endeavors, and challenges students to continue to develop and
perfect their unique talents.
Some students of The Austin School for the Performing and Visual Arts will go on to attain worldwide fame
as artists. Other students will become teachers of future artists while some students will pursue
professional careers in other areas. Regardless of their chosen path in life, the opportunities to explore
the arts to develop their individual talents will serve to enrich their experiences throughout their lives.
International Trumpet soloist, Nathaniel Mayfield, ASPVA 's
Artistic Director and native Austinite, also performs at An
Evening of Art. Nathaniel is a graduate of The Juilliard
School/Columbia University as well as Interlochen Arts
Academy. He is a Fulbright Scholar and the recipient of a
1994 Presidential Scholarship in the Arts.
