Beliefs
We believe that creative self-expression through the arts, should be a vital
element of each child’s education in light of the profound effects of the arts on the
intellectual growth of children.
We believe that the arts have the power to positively impact all areas of a child’s
life because of the unique ability of the arts to capture children’s imaginations,
motivating them to strive for excellence, and to see themselves and the world
around them from new perspectives.
We believe that many talented children in the Austin area should be supported in
following their dreams of becoming performers and artists in various creative fields.
We believe that many children are unable to follow their dreams because of socio-
economic conditions, lack of support to pursue a vocation in the arts, and
insufficient funding for arts education in Austin.
We believe that through the participation in the arts, children develop discipline, a
standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that will carry over to all aspects
of their lives.
We believe that many physically or educationally at risk children benefit from
participating in the arts because of its positive influence on intellectual, emotional,
and physical development.
We believe that helping our children participate in performing and visual arts will
increase support for the arts in Austin and continue to enhance the quality of life in
our community.
We believe that the parents and community, along with the ability and attitude of
the student, are intrinsic components of education. We accept the responsibility to
provide as appropriate an education for each child as possible while remaining
fiscally responsible.
We believe that our school exists for the children. School should be a place where
the school climate continually affirms the worth of all students and where students
can have meaningful experiences in an environment that is inspirational,
challenging, nurturing and drug-free.
