Curriculum

ASPVA is honored to work collaboratively with Texas Tech University to offer an accredited curriculum
to the students of ASPVA. The Texas Tech University Independent School District (TTUISD) offers
customized educational solutions allowing schools such as ASPVA to offer a college preparatory
academic curriculum with an emphasis on the Fine Arts.  TTUISD currently serves 77,887 students
around the world, and their success rate is to be commended.  The average GPA among their full-time
students is 3.23.   The average SAT composite score of 1641 and the ACT composite score of 24 are
both above the state and national average.

Any student admitted must have strong learning skills, maturity and self -discipline.   TTUISD is a
Texas Education Agency (TEA) accredited independent school district.  Credits from any accredited
school may transfer into ASPVA and TTUISD.  This allows credits from TTUISD to transfer out to any
other TEA accredited school.  TTUISD will evaluate each student to determine if all credits are eligible
for transfer into TTUISD.  There may be some difficulty in non-accredited home schooling credits fully
transferring into TTUISD, but this will not be known until the student is submitted for evaluation.
TTUISD does offer Credits by Examination (CBE) for courses where the student believes he or she has
mastered the subject, but TTUISD does not allow a direct transfer of credits into TTUISD.  CBE’s must
be completed in a 60 day window once the student has applied for this option.

All students graduating from ASPVA and TTUISD must take the TAKS test before being able to
graduate.  At some point, if the student chooses to continue his or her education at the college level,
it is highly recommended they take the SAT and/or the ACT examination.  ASPVA will help guide the
student to suitable course preparation options.

There will be a dual diploma issued.  One will be issued by TTUISD for the academic accomplishments
and a second will be issued by ASPVA for Fine Arts accomplishments.  The TTUISD diploma is honored
by colleges and universities worldwide should the student desire to pursue a college education, which
is what we at ASPVA recommend.

ASPVA is committed to placing students in our program that is considered the best fit for each
individual.  Our focus is on students who wish to pursue academic and artistic success, and we are
not equipped to support students with learning disabilities.  Please note that ASPVA is a school of
choice, and is focused on students who wish to pursue academic and artistic success.  ASPVA is not
the school for your child if he or she has been tested to have some sort of disability or you are aware
of a learning disability.  Please notify ASPVA of any such issues prior to enrolling in ASPVA or TTUISD
courses.
